Slot Bonus Features
Free-to-play guide · in-game coins only, no real money.
Bonus features are what make modern slot games exciting, and in a Slotupia tournament they're where the biggest point swings happen. Here's what each common feature does.
Wild symbols
A wild substitutes for other symbols to complete a win. Variations: expanding wilds grow to fill the whole reel; sticky wilds stay in place for several spins; walking wilds move one reel each spin; multiplier wilds multiply any win they help form.
Scatter symbols
Scatters pay or trigger features wherever they land; they don't need to be on a payline. Three or more scatters commonly trigger free spins.
Free spins
A set number of spins that don't use your coins, often with extras such as multipliers or added wilds. Landing more scatters during free spins may "retrigger" more. See free spins tips.
Multipliers
Multiply a win by 2x, 3x, 10x or more. Some increase with every cascade or free spin.
Cascades / tumbling reels
Winning symbols vanish and new ones fall into place, allowing several wins from one spin.
Respins and hold-and-spin
Certain symbols lock in place while the other positions respin. Hold-and-spin features usually reset the respin counter every time a new special symbol lands.
Pick-me bonus games
A separate screen where you choose items to reveal coin prizes. Results are still random.
Bonus wheels
A wheel spin awarding coins, multipliers or entry to another feature.
Jackpots
Fixed jackpots pay a set amount; progressive-style jackpot meters grow over time. In Slotupia they pay in-game coins and points only.
Buy features
Some real-money games let you pay to enter a bonus directly. Slotupia tournaments don't sell features; everyone plays the same way.
Using features in tournaments
- Feature-heavy games are usually higher volatility.
- A single free-spins round can move you several places on the leaderboard.
- Don't chase a feature with all your coins early; give yourself time.

Questions
What's the difference between wild and scatter?
A wild substitutes to complete wins on lines; a scatter pays or triggers features anywhere on the reels.
Do free spins cost coins?
No. Free spins are awarded by the game and don't use your coin balance.

Go deeper
Deep dives: free spins, wild symbols and jackpots.
Try it in a free tournament
Everything on this page applies to Slotupia's games, played with equal free coins in 100-player rooms. Your score is the points you win, so understanding how games pay helps you choose the right one for each phase of a match. Grab your free tickets, pick a format, and put this into practice. If something here is new to you, demo mode lets you test a game before you compete.
Free to play, always
Slotupia never involves real money. Coins, points and rewards stay in the game. If you play real-money slots elsewhere and it stops being fun, see our Responsible Play page for Nigerian helplines.
Practise before you compete
Every idea on this page is easier to understand with a few demo spins. Open a game, play 50 to 100 spins at a small spin size, and watch how often wins and features arrive. Then use what you learned in a free tournament, where the points count.

Our glossary explains more than 60 slot terms, and the Slot Guides category goes deeper into RTP, volatility, wilds, free spins and pay tables. All of it applies to free-to-play games; Slotupia never involves real money.
Remember: results are random
No strategy changes the odds of any single spin. Strategy in Slotupia is about choosing games, spin sizes and timing so you make the most of your coins over a match.
